All current and new directors are given the Director Identity Number (DIN), a unique 8-digit identification number. No one may be a director of any firm without having DIN, which is a criterion that must be met.
Because people used to merge businesses like chit funds, gather money from others, and defraud people, getting a DIN became required. Authentication is offered by DIN to thwart this fraud. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs currently keeps a DIN database that lists every individual with a directorship in any business.
The DIN directory includes all information on directors and proprietors, including their names, PAN numbers, and current addresses. Any address or other information changes must be updated right away.
